# Shipeezi

> Shipeezi is retail import execution and compliance software. It runs the chain from the PO line to the SSCC carton it was packed in, the booking, the container and every leg across every forwarder and mode. Because Shipeezi mints the GS1 SSCC itself, it can prove what is inside every carton, generate an EDI 856 whose SSCC matches the physical barcode, and validate a shipment against the retailer's rules before it sails.

Shipeezi serves the whole retail import chain. A retailer or shipper owns the purchase orders and buys the goods. An LSP or 4PL manages POs and shipments for many retailer clients in one workspace. A supplier manufactures and books against POs, packs cartons and mints SSCCs. A CFS or consolidator receives and scans cartons and builds containers. A forwarder runs self-serve air and ocean. All of them work the same record, scoped by grant.

Shipeezi is not a general visibility or tracking product. Tracking aggregators see the container. Shipeezi owns the execution layer they do not have: PO lines, supplier bookings, cartons and SSCCs, CFS receive and consolidation, and the multimodal leg spine.

- Nonexistent paths return a real HTTP 404, never a 200 with an app shell. With `Accept: text/markdown` the 404 body lists where to look instead.

- Developer note: the `/api/public/v1` endpoints in the OpenAPI spec are the public face of the Shipeezi execution spine. The tenant platform behind app.shipeezi.com is a separate, authenticated system and is not documented here.

## Key facts

- The differentiator is carton grain. Shipeezi mints the SSCC at packing and nests the SKU contents as rows, so every compliance and chargeback question is answerable at carton level.
- The chargeback position: most retail OTIF fines are ASN (EDI 856) timing or data mismatches and SSCC or label errors. Shipeezi can run the checks that decide a chargeback before the shipment leaves.
- The leg is the spine. One shipment is an ordered chain of legs, each with a mode. Multimodal is a leg sequence, not a duplicated shipment. Air, sea, road and rail are all leg modes.
- Compliance fields attach to the narrowest node: origin at the SKU line, emissions at the leg, title in its own document chain. Stored once and emitted on demand.
- Ocean transport follows the DCSA track-and-trace taxonomy. Air and road use mode-appropriate vocabularies.
